The Ministry of Finance and Planning has spent over Rs. 14.67 million during the past 10 months for security, housekeeping, and gardening services.
According to details revealed in Parliament yesterday, Rs. 9.27 million was paid for security services obtained from a team of 24 personnel provided by Rakna Arakshaka Lanka Ltd., which is headed by the Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, Public Security, Law and Order.
The housekeeping team of 25 provided by Unicare and the three gardeners from Garden of Eden were paid Rs. 4.75 million and Rs. 656,166 respectively.
Responding to UNP MP Ravi Karunanayake, it was also confirmed that the outsourced services have enabled the flawless operations of Ministry of Finance and Planning with 240 staff members and the Treasury as well as its departments also located at the same premises with a total of 789 staff members.
