First Jaffna batch of soldiers pass out today

Five hundred recruits from Jaffna, who recently joined the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Forces (SLAVF) and completed three months of training, will pass out in an elegant parade on 20 September at the Sri Lanka Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (SLEME) grounds, Kankesanthurai (KKS). Upon being selected, 400 male and 100 female recruits were given basic military training and vocational education in various trades such as carpentry, masonry, electric welding, motor mechanism, farming, beauty culture etc. Training commenced on 19 June at KKS. Subsequently, they will be attached to the 7th Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps for different service units located in KKS and to the Thalsevana Holiday Resort.
