The first Sangha Court (court for monks) will open in Kandy today, 22 October.
Chief Justice Mohan Peiris said the Sangha Court is being set up for Buddhist monks to appear over any case involving them.
The Chief Justice said that there is a concentration of cases involving monks in Kandy, Anuradhapura and Galle.
According to the Chief Justice, monks will be required to appear at a Sangha Court where the proceedings will be completed within days and not postponed like other Court proceedings.
