Former Army commander’s secretary bailed

The former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka’s private secretary, Captain (retired) Senaka de Silva was granted bail yesterday.

The Court of Appeal granted bail to Silva when his bail application was taken up for hearing yesterday. The state counsel had told the court that there was no objection to Silva being granted bail.

Silva was remanded on a charge of employing army deserters during the last presidential election campaign.  Silva was released on a cash bail of Rs.100,000 and has been ordered not to leave the country.



He was ordered to hand over his passport to the court and to report to the OIC of the Criminal Investigations Department on the last Sunday of every month. (www.colombopage.com)
