Students and parents staged two separate protests in Sri Lanka yesterday against the controversial results of the GCE Advanced Level examination calling for a review of the results.

The students’ protest was organised by the JVP backed Inter University Students’ Federation (IUSF) opposite the Fort Railway station.  The students claimed they have been treated unfairly and that they had no faith in the results released by the Examinations Department.

Meanwhile, parents protested under the banner of the Movement to Protect Schools outside the Education Ministry in Battaramulla.

The Movement called for the immediate resignation of Education Minister Bandula Gunawardena and for a review of the A/Level results. While security was tightened in Colombo and Battaramulla due to the protests, they were held in a peaceful manner.
