GL briefs senior Russian delegation

Minister of External Affairs Professor G.L. Peiris held discussions on Wednesday with a senior delegation from the State Duma (Parliament) of the Russian Delegation. The Russian delegation was led by Sergey V. Zheleznyak, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma. The other members of the delegation

were First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Property Valery S. Seleznuv, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Economic Policy Mikhail V. Yemelyanov and Chief Adviser to the Division on Relations with Foreign Parliaments Valery V. Fadeev. Prof. Peiris engaged the visiting Russian delegation in a detailed discussion of progress made in our country in all sectors since the achievement of peace and stability, and courses of action currently being implemented. He referred to his discussions in New York with Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in November last year, and at the Foreign Ministry in Moscow previously.
