Government to provide dry rations to drought-affected

President Maithripala Sirisena has issued instructions to provide dry rations to those affected by the prevailing drought in the country, the President’s Media Division said. 

“Moreover, the President has also instructed to provide drinking and other water requirements to the people in those affected areas,” it said.

According to the Disaster Management Centre, nearly 1.1 million people in 17 districts had been affected due to the drought in the country. According to the latest situation report by the DMC, Trincomalee, Kurunegala, Puttalam, Mullaitivu, Jaffna, Vavuniya and Kilinochchi are among the worst-affected.
