Govt. briefs diplomats

The Government yesterday briefed diplomats based in Colombo on a wide range of issues including the impeachment of former Chief Justice.

Minister of External Affairs Professor G.L. Peiris and Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunga met with the diplomats and apprised of legal and constitutional provisions regarding the impeachment motion.

Secretary to the President elaborated on the progress made in implementing recommendations of the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC).
