President Mahinda Rajapaksa says the law is equal to all and no one has a right to take the law into their own hands. The President said this while speaking after declaring open the renovated Jumma Masjid Mosque in Beruwala yesterday. He said that there cannot be room for any community or a religion to divide the country and that all people have equal rights. The President insisted that the government is committed to protect all the communities in Sri Lanka. He also noted that Islamic countries are good friends of Sri Lanka and had backed Sri Lanka even at the UN Human Rights Council. The President urged the nation to renounce extremism and maintain a good relationship between all the communities in the country. (Colombo Gazette)
