The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) yesterday announced that it would conduct an island-wide strike against Budget proposals today.

The strike will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and several other trade unions will join the GMOA to continue the strike.  The GMOA further stated that Government doctors expected more attractive facilities from the recent Budget, however even existing facilities had been abolished.

The GMOA’s main expectation is to regain the duty free vehicle permit of Government officers including doctors which has been cancelled by the Budget.
