They were protesting an alleged secret agreement which was signed by the common opposition candidate Maithripala Sirisena and the opposition leader Ranil Wickremasinghe, on 1 November. Crossover UNP MP and current Minister of Health Tissa Attanayake recently produced a document to the press saying that Wickremasinghe and Sirisena on 1 November signed an agreement for a common program for the 8 January presidential election.
