The Government is to initiate legal action soon against some former hardcore LTTE cadres.
A committee of legal council appointed to look into the pending cases under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) announced that it has finalised the prosecution process.
Additional Solicitor General Suhada Gamlath told media that the Government would file cases against 60 former LTTE cadres in the next few weeks.
The committee had reportedly checked out some 300 files of LTTE detainees and about 150 ex-combatants in order to send those without any evidence of serious crimes for rehabilitation.
The Terrorists Investigation Division (TID) was investigating into 80 more former LTTE cadres based on new evidence received on their involvement in the conflict, the Additional Solicitor General said.
The Judicial Services Commission (JSC) is to set up four new High Courts in the Anuradhapura, Vavuniya and Mannar districts and the Welikada prisons to expedite the court inquiry process.
Meanwhile, another batch of rehabilitated former LTTE cadres are to be reintegrated into society by the end of this month.
The Commissioner General of Rehabilitation, Brigadier Darshana Hettiarachchi said that 32 former combatants will be released on 30 October following the completion of their rehabilitation program.
The government has reintegrated 10,979 former LTTE members so far and only 779 more currently remain at the rehabilitation centres in the country.
The rehabilitated cadres have undergone vocational training programs at the centres and upon their release they have been provided with concessionary loans to start self-employment, Brigadier Hettiarachchi said.
