President Mahinda Rajapaksa says that the government would provide a political solution according to the requirement of the country.

Addressing a gathering in Polonnaruwa following the launch of the Polonnaruwa water supply project Sunday, President Rajapaksa has said that the government was not prepared to provide solutions demanded by various individuals or the international community.

“We will provide solutions required by our country,” he has noted.

The government will always seek a home-grown solution to meet the aspirations and needs of the people, the President has said, adding that the solutions to country’s problems should come from within based on dialogue and understanding.

He has stressed that the government is always prepared to listen and open for discussion to resolve any issues on behalf of the people.

The President has extended an invitation to everyone to join the effort in finding a political solution saying there was no need for any person to try to visit foreign countries carrying tales.

“All of them should first work to build the country,” he has said.

The President has also said that contrary to various reports, the government is media friendly.

However, he has pointed out that it was the responsibility of the media to level reasonable arguments against the government without making false allegations with the aim of instilling feelings of hatred in the people. President Rajapaksa also declared open a Rs. 5.02 billion worth project to provide safe drinking water to over 80,000 people in the Polonnaruwa district.
