Ground frost in Nuwara Eliya

Reports from the Nuwara Eliya area say that tourists and locals in large numbers gather at tourist hot spots of World’s End, Gregory Lake and the Golf Course in the morning to witness the rare occurrence of ground frost in the hill country.

Nuwara Eliya is reportedly experiencing temperatures below 10 Celsius and last morning the temperature in the area has plummeted to 6.5 Celsius. The hotels in the area are filled with tourists in the prime season, sources say.

Although the occurrence attract tourists, the ground frost has hit the vegetable market island wide since the supplies from hill country areas were insufficient to maintain the price levels.
