Hakeem expresses sadness over loss of Asgiriya Mahanayake

Minister of Urban Development, Water Supply and Drainage and Leader of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress Rauff Hakeem has conveyed his condolences over the death of the Mahanayake Thero of the Asgiriya Chapter the Ven. Udugama Sri Buddharakitha Thero.
The following is his condolence message.
It is with profound sadness that I learnt of the passing away of the Mahanayake Thero of the Asgiriya Chapter the Most Venerable Udugama Sri Buddharakitha Thero. I was fortunate to have known him from the time he was the Anunayake Thero of the Asgiriya Chapter.
He truly was a gentle person with open ideas and did not show any differences to the aspects of cast creed or religion.
I had the honour to receive his valuable advice when I assumed duties as the Minister in charge of the Urban Development Water Supply and Drainage in the new regime. I am reminded of the many times I visited the Asgiriya temple to get his advice before, as well.
He earned the respect and admiration of the Muslim community for his leadership, courage and, above all, percipient wisdom. The Sri Lanka Muslim Congress and the Muslim community share the grief of the nation at the passing away of a beacon of light that illuminated all our lives.
Although he has passed away, the light he leaves behind will continue to show us the path ahead.
