Hambantota Mayor released on bail

Hambantota Mayor Eraj Ravindra Fernando was yesterday released on bail with two sureties of Rs.1 million each, when he was produced before Hambantota Chief Magistrate Isuru Neththikumara. 

Fernando was arrested on 29 April on charges of assault and kidnapping alleged to have taken place at the Ambalantota police station in March 2014. He was also accused of threatening the Ambalantota police station OIC. 

The case was set for 24 June.
