Harim Peiris appointed as Advisor to Foreign Affairs Minister

Minister of Foreign Affairs Mangala Samaraweera, with the approval of the Cabinet of Ministers has appointed Harim Peiris as Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs with immediate effect.

Harim Peiris has previously held a variety of senior official positions, most recently as the Chairman of the Resettlement Authority and a Member of the Coordinating Committee of the Office of National Unity and Reconciliation (ONUR).  He has also served as Presidential Spokesman, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation and as Director General of Rehabilitation and Reconciliation.

Peiris is a graduate in Finance and has an MBA in International Business from the University of Texas, USA. He is a political analyst and a freelance contributor to several national newspapers. He is the son of late Nirmal C. Peiris MA (Cantab) one-time Counsellor in Sri Lanka’s Mission to the UN in New York and Additional Secretary to the Prime Minister.
