Health service allowances upped

Measures have been taken by the Government to increase uniform allowance paid to Nursing Officers, Midwives, Public Health Officers, Public Health Field Officers of Anti-Malaria/Filaria, Entomological Assistants, School Dental Therapists, Veterinary Vaccinators, Animals Unit Controllers, Health Drivers and Junior Health Staff and to grant monthly allowance to the Apprentice Doctors of the Health Service who are engaged in prevention of deceases. Further, action has been taken to increase telephone allowance of the Para Medical Officers. Additionally, the Interim Allowance paid to Nursing Officers, Para Medical Officers and Junior Staff of Health Service, who serve in the special hospitals and medical units, has been increased. As per the budget proposals 2014 presented by the President, revisions pertaining to new allowances and increase of existed allowances will take effect from 1 January 2014. Instructions in this respect have been given to the Secretary, Ministry of Health by the Treasury.
