High Court grants bail to Sajin Vaas

Former UPFA MP Sajin de Vass Gunawardena has been granted bail by the Colombo High Court yesterday.

Colombo High Court Judge Manilal Vaidyatilaka accepted Vaas Gunawardena’s bail application when the case was heard yesterday.

The former MP was released on a cash bail of Rs.1 million and two personal bails of Rs.20 million each. Gunawardena, has been in remand custody since his arrest in May this year. The former MP, was also a coordinating secretary of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, has been charged of misusing 23 vehicles attached to the Presidential Secretariat. Vaas Gunawardena is facing several charges of alleged corruption and fraud during the tenure of the former regime.
