High-level delegation to accompany Maldives President to Lanka

A high level delegation will accompany the Maldives President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom during his state visit to Sri Lanka this week, the Maldives President’s office said. Yameen will be making a State Visit to Sri Lanka on the invitation of President Mahinda Rajapaksa from 21 to 23 January. President Yameen will be joined by a high-level delegation that includes Qasim Ibrahim, Leader of the Jumhooree Party, Hon. Ahmed Siyam Mohamed, Leader of the Maldives Development Alliance, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dunya Maumoon, Vice President of the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), Abdul Raheem Abdulla, Minority Leader of Parliament and Deputy Leader of the Parliamentary Group of the PPM, Moosa Zameer, Chief Whip of the Parliamentary Group of the PPM, Ali Arif, Ministers at the President’s Office, Mohamed Hussain Shareef and Abdulla Ameen, Chief of Police Hussain Waheed and the Foreign Secretary, Dr. Ali Naseer Mohamed. During the visit, President Yameen will hold one-to-one deliberations with President Rajapaksa on charting the course for future Maldives-Sri Lanka bilateral ties. President Yameen and President Rajapaksa will also lead official bilateral talks between senior delegations of the two countries. During his stay in Sri Lanka, President Yameen will also meet with the Maldivian community in Sri Lanka. He will also meet with selected members of the Sri Lankan Cabinet. A Business Forum organised by the Sri Lankan-Maldivian Business Council will also be held as part of President Yameen’s State Visit. The Forum to discuss ways to enhance business and investment ties between Maldives and Sri Lanka will be attended by senior business delegations of both countries. President Yameen’s State Visit will be his second since assuming presidential office. (Colombo Gazette)
