The Crime Investigation Department (CID) told a Colombo Magistrate yesterday that Sumana and Hirunika Premachandra, wife and daughter of Former Parliamentarian and President’s advisor Bharatha Lakshman Pemachandra had made representations to the Attorney General’s Department.
They had met Deputy Solicitor General Madhawa Tennakoon to make representations over the killing of Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra.
ASP Shani Abeysekera of the CID branch made this disclosure during the non summary inquiry before Colombo Additional Magistrate Prasanna De Alwis, into the killing of Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra and four others at Mulleriyawa on Local Government Election Day. Abeysekera also said that the CID branch officers had discussed over the trial with DSG Tennakoon on 4 and 7 December and he had asserted that the Attorney General will put forward his findings very soon after perusing the submissions of the parties and studying the brief of the case. In addition he said the Attorney General (AG) will decide on further action thereafter.
The suspects Vithanalage Anura Thushara De Mel, Chandana Jagath Kumara, Chaminda Ravi Jayanatha Manjula Prasad Hettiarachchi, Kodippili Arachchilage Lanka Rasanjana, Shibly Munauwwar Mohamed Safraz , Amila, Kovilegedera Ruwan Madusanka Senaratna, Rohana Marasinghe, Morawaka Dewage Suranga Premalal, Getamanna Malavi Kankanamage Bandula Senaratna, Getamanna Malavi Kankanamage Hettkankanamge Sirinayaka Pathiranage, Wijesuriya Arachcalage Malaka Sameera, Vidanagamamge Dissanayake Mudiyanselage Sarath Bandara, Chaminda Samankumara Kumara, Nagoda Liyanaarachchige Shaminda, Arambewelage Don Kaushalya Dananjaya Madusanka Silva, Duminda Silva Hemantha Charindu Asanka, Rajapurage Gamini and Ravi Jagath were suspected to have involved in the shooting that took place on 8 October 2011, after the Local Government Elections at Walpola Mulleriyawa when the supporters of Duminda Silva and Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra met each other face to face, and the next Court hearing will be called on 1 January.
