The Department of Meteorology says ice rain is expected in the central hills today (Tuesday), along with heavy showers.
In a weather update issued last evening the Department of Meteorology said several spells of showers would occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central Provinces and Galle and Matara Districts. The temperature in Nuwara Eliya is expected to be between 13 and 19 degrees Celsius today.
The Department of Meteorology said that ice rain, lightning and temporary localised strong winds (up to 60kmph) confined to the surrounding areas may occur during thundershowers. Therefore the public living in the said areas have been requested to be vigilant and take adequate precautions to minimise the damages caused by lightning activities. (Colombo Gazette)
