“If Ministers had freedom, they would all fly”: JVP

If the Government granted its members freedom, they would all fly away, JVP Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake quipped yesterday. “Like the Rajapaksa macaws that flew away, the Ministers will also fly if they had the freedom to go,” he said. Addressing a media briefing yesterday, Dissanayake condemned President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s threats that he had files on the dissidents. “What is he doing with those files without releasing them? He is saying he has information on people who have committed fraud, but he will do nothing about it,’ the JVP Leader asked. “The sign of the chief thief is that he has to protect smaller thieves in order to protect himself,” he charged. Dissanayake accused President Rajapaksa of destroying systems and the rule of law in the country.
