IGP removes Payagala OIC

Police Headquarters, on the instructions of the IGP, has removed the Officer in Charge (OIC) of the Payagala police station with immediate effect. The police media unit said that the OIC was removed in relation to a bribe obtained by a sub inspector attached to the traffic division of the Payagala police. The sub inspector was arrested for obtaining a Rs. 10,000 bribe to release a three-wheeler involved in an accident. The IGP ordered the removal of the OIC of the Payagala police station on the basis that he had failed to carry out his administration duties as an OIC in relation to the bribery incident.
