India arrests five Sri Lankan fishermen in Indian waters

TGE Indian Coast Guard on Tuesday has reportedly arrested five Sri Lankan fishermen for illegally fishing in India’s territorial waters. The five fishermen were in a mechanised boat fishing in the Indian waters south of Thoothukudi when the Indian Coast Guard spotted them and immediately arrested them, the Express News Service reported. The arrested fishermen are expected to be brought to the local police on Wednesday. However, their identities have not been disclosed yet. According to the report the Indian Coast Guard has beefed up the patrolling activities along the coast following a report that Sri Lanka’s LTTE terrorists may enter Tamil Nadu from Sri Lanka.
