Chennai: Indian Coast Guard has arrested 10 Sri Lankan fishermen with their catch and seized their two boats while they were fishing in the Indian waters, Indian media reported.
According to PTI report, Indian Coast Guard (Eastern) region on Saturday night had apprehended 10 Sri Lankan fishermen in two boats carrying about 5,000 kg of fish.
The Indian Coast Guard had seized the two boats ‘Chejana’ and ‘Kulanputha’ about 120 km from Kakinada, the report quoting an official release said.
The two vessels had been taken to the Kakinada Port and handed over to the police. This is the eighth such apprehension of Sri Lankan fishermen and boats in 2011, the release has said. Altogether up to now 17 boats with 84 crew and 18,900 kg of fish have been apprehended, the release has said.
