Intl. seminar and photographic exhibition to mark Kashmir Solidarity Day in Sri Lanka

Kashmir Solidarity Day will be observed on 5 February throughout the world to express unity with the people of occupied Kashmir in their fight against Indian subjugation.

The High Commission of Pakistan in Sri Lanka will mark Kashmir Solidarity Day by holding an International Seminar on the genesis and way forward of the Kashmir issue in Colombo on 5 February. Several high profile Sri Lankan and Pakistani experts will present papers on various dimensions of Kashmir issue. The seminar will be followed by a photographic exhibition on Kashmir.

The day (5 February) has been observed in Pakistan since 1990 to pay homage to Kashmiri martyrs and highlight the plight for their birth right to self-determination, promised to them by the international community under the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.

The day is a regular annual event being marked to support the indigenous freedom struggle of the people of Occupied Kashmir and their right to plebiscite and to condemn Indian aggression and its illegal occupation of the held valley.

Rallies, demonstrations, human chains by men, women and children would also be held at various points across the world as well as in Azad Kashmir to express solidarity with the struggling Kashmiris.
