Invoking blessings for world peace

The World Buddhist Summit and Ashirwada Pooja organised by the World Buddhist Congress was inaugurated on Tuesday at the Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksa performance theatre under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The aim of the Ashirwada Pooja was to invoke blessings for world peace. Nearly 500 foreign monks and about 800 local monks have participated in the Aashirvada Pooja. At the event, President Rajapaksa presented mementoes to the Maha Sangha who have dedicated their lives to propagate Buddhism in the world – Pic by Sudath Silva
