Iran’s humanitarian aid was dispatched to flood-stricken areas in Sri Lanka in cooperation with Iran’s mission in Colombo, the Iranian Embassy announced on Saturday.

Iran’s aid cargo has been sent to Matara and the Gangaramaya Buddhist Temple in Sri Lanka, the embassy said.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi expressed his country’s condolences to the Sri Lankan Government over those who died in the recent floods and landslides.

Over 210 people were killed and 94 others were reported missing in Sri Lanka last week following floods and mudslides caused by torrential rains.
