All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama (ACJU) has announced that it vehemently denounces terrorist activities and violence unleashed by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

The President of the All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama, Ash Sheikh Mufthi M.I.M. Rizwie at a news conference held Thursday said the organisation totally denounces terrorism unleashed by ISIS.

“We condemn in unequivocal terms all forms of violence and extremism,” the Muslim cleric leader said.

“Islam is a religion of mercy for all humanity. It is the fountainhead of Eternal Peace, Tranquillity, Security and Brotherhood. Islam attaches such value to human life that it equates the killing of a single being unlawfully with the killing of the entire human race, without differentiation based on creed or caste,” he elaborated.

The association convened a media briefing in Colombo Thursday to express their stance on the Sri Lankan Muslim who was recently killed while fighting for the ISIS.

Rizwe said the ISIS is a violent extremist organisation which acts against the fundamental teachings of Islam.

He pointed out that their organisation condemns any person associated with the ISIS or any other extremist organisation operating under the guise of Islam and added that they do not condone any person or organisation that engages in extremism in any form.
