Japan donate Rs. 180 m worth in canned fish to north’s school meal program

The Government of Japan has donated Rs. 180 million (120 Japanese Yen) worth of canned fish through the United Nation World Food Program to the Government of Sri Lanka.

232 Mt. of canned fish will be distributed to the schools in the Northern Province as a part of the on-going School Meal Program under the Ministry of Economic Development (PRRO WFP project) with a view to addressing the nutrition needs of the school children in the Northern Province. 156,600 students in the Northern Province will be benefited from this donation. On behalf of the Government of Japan, Ambassador to Sri Lanka Nobuhito Hobo handed over the above donation to Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapakase in the presence of the WFP officials and the ministry officials.
