Japanese Naval ships here

‘Suzunami’ and ‘Kirisame,’ two Japan Maritime Self Defence Force (JMSDF) ships, have arrived on a goodwill and supply visit.

They were accorded a ceremonial welcome by the Sri Lanka Navy upon their arrival at the eastern Port of Trincomalee.

The 151 metre-long JS ‘Suzunami’ carries a crew of 180 officers and other ranks. The 4,650 ton ship also carries a patrol helicopter on board. With two patrol helicopters onboard, JS ‘Kirisame’ is a 151 metre long ship with a displacement of 4,550 tons. It has a crew of 190.

According to Naval sourcesm special programs have been scheduled for the ships’ crew during their stay here. The ships will leave the country today.
