Japan’s Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs to visit Sri Lanka

Minoru Kiuchi, Parliamentary Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs in Japan will arrive in Sri Lanka, on Thursday (12 September) on an official visit, the Government Information Department announced. Kiuchi’s two-day visit will be a follow-up to President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s visit to Tokyo in March this year and to the visit of Deputy Prime Minister of Japan and Minister of Finance Taro Aso to Sri Lanka in May this year. During his visit Kiuchi is expected to call on Minister of External Affairs, Prof. G.L. Peiris to discuss bilateral relations with a view to further strengthening the longstanding ties between the two countries. He will also attend the sixth meeting of the Japan-Sri Lanka Government-Private Joint Forum co-chaired by Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa to be held on Friday (13). Kiuchi will also visit the Colombo Dockyard which marks its 20th anniversary of partnership with Onomichi Dockyard Co. Ltd. of Japan this year.
