The case filed against Rosemary Felicia Perera alias ‘Jeena madam,’ for allegedly possessing a leopard skin without a valid permit at a leading shopping mall in Kollupitiya was postponed for 4 May by a Colombo Court.
When the case against Rosemary Felicia Perera came up before Colombo Fort Magistrate Kanishka Wijeratne, the witness number one, the investigative officer who carried out the raid was not present in Court. It was scheduled to be cross-examined the police officer who carried out the raid by the defence counsel.
At a previous magisterial inquiry, the investigative officer Sub Inspector Janak de Silva told the court that when he raided the brothel on 23 September, 2009 he recovered a leopard skin from the possession of the accused when she was in the eighth floor of the building.During the raid 14 suspects including main accused Rosemary Felicia Perera were arrested by the Fort Divisional Vice Squad for allegedly providing women for prostitution. Further Magisterial inquiry into the matter was postponed for 4 May.Counsel Deemani Beddewela, Sudarshani Gunaratne and Niroshan Siriwardena appeared for the accused. Sub Inspector Chathuranga of Fort Police prosecuted.
