Speaking to reporters, Amaratunga said that the international community was well aware of the corrupt activities of the former regime.

“The Opposition members must be told to go to Geneva and return safely as action might be taken against them even in Geneva,” the Minister said.

Former Education Minister Bandula Gunawardena had said on Saturday that some Opposition members would go to Geneva in two weeks and seek the intervention of the Inter Parliamentary Union (IPU).

Meanwhile, Amaratunga also hit out at Western Province Chief Minister Prasanna Ranatunga in relation to a reaction to a comment the Minister had made on corruption.

Amaratunga said that Ranatunga was getting agitated over the comments he had made saying that some members of the provincial council were corrupt.

“All I can tell him is, if the hat fits, put it on,” the Minister said. (Colombo Gazette)
