Justice Ministry revokes ‘JPs Human Rights Organisation’ Chairman’s title

The title of a JP who had run an organisation called ‘JPs Human Rights Organisation’ to defraud JPs was revoked by the Ministry of Justice. The Ministry had revoked the JP title of the defrauder D.S. Jayantha Kalubowila of No. 205, Nainamadama Chilaw.  

He was alleged to have defrauded JPs of several hundred thousands of rupees as membership fee and for the programs initiated by him.

Investigations also had revealed that he had collected money from the JPs to award titles and to get visas for them to go abroad. He was also found guilty in a case heard before the Marawila Magisrate’s Court, according to Ministry sources.

The Ministry had taken steps to revoke his JP post after conducting a disciplinary inquiry. Following the complaints made to President Mahinda Rajapaksa and to Justice Minister Rauff Hakeem. Thus the appointment made under reference 92\02\ NW\ WI\ F01 to the accused D.S. Jayantha Kalubowila was revoked by the Ministry.

The Ministry warns the public to be vigilant over such persons as the Ministry does not have any relationship with the culprits.
