Justice Hettige appointed as member of Judicial Services Commission

Supreme Court Judge Sathyaa Hettige has been appointed as a member of the Judicial Services Commission (JSC).



President Mahinda Rajapaksa nominated Justice Hettige as a member of the Judicial Services Commission and Parliamentary Council on 31 May, and approved the nomination, the vacancy occurred consequent to the retirement of Justice S.I. Imam in February 2013.

Justice Hettige who was serving in the Attorney General’s Department for more than three decades and was the Senior most Additional Solicitor General when he was appointed as the President of the Court of Appeal of Sri Lanka from 2008.

He is a Law Graduate from the Colombo University, and was appointed as the President’s Counsel in 2005. Justice Hettige was elevated to the Supreme Court as a Judge of the Supreme Court in 2011, by the President. Justice Hettige PC has also been serving as a Supreme Court Judge in Fiji Islands during sessions.
