Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) has called on people to unite and use the forthcoming provincial council elections to defeat the government.
JVP General Secretary Tilvin Silva said the people need to realize the coalition members in the government unite and fight to pillage the masses.
He explained that several coalition members of the governing party were contesting separately in the Eastern Province, but remained in the governing alliance.
Citing the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) and the National Freedom Front (NFF) as examples, Silva noted that the parties were contesting separately in the East and would criticize the government on the election platform, but would continue remain in the governing party.
According to the JVP General Secretary, it is a clear indication that the coalition members of the governing party are united to plunder and fight among themselves also to pillage the people.
He observed that the governing party was carrying out its campaign violating election and other laws in the country.
Silva pointed out that the government has deployed the entire state mechanism including state finances, state officials and all properties including rest houses and state enterprises for its election campaign in the North Central, Sabaragamuwa and Eastern Provincial Councils.
