JVP dissidents say website hacked

Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) run Lanka Truth website said yesterday that it was under a cyber-attack.

“Today in the morning there was a cyber-attack toward “lankatruth.com”. At the moment our technical engineers are working out to make the situation back to normal. Any how our viewers can log on to http://174.142.141.49 and reach us,” the website published in its side bar and in the social networking site Facebook.

The website has been taken under control by a team that backs the dissident Premakumar Gunarathnam faction of the JVP.

A spokesman for the JVP Somawansa Amarasinghe faction denied the allegations of a cyber-attack. He said that it was a fabrication to attract visitors.

The website was not regularly updated within the past couple of weeks. Currently it is unavailable.
