The National Freedom Front (NFF) has slammed the leader of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) Anura Kumara Dissanayake for his silence over the controversial Treasury bond issue.

NFF Spokesperson Muhammad Muzammil told the media that even as a member of the National Executive Council Dissanayake had failed to demand action against the Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran, who was accused in the controversial Treasury bond issue.

“Anura Dissanayake demands action against former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa, but has remained silent over the Central Bank bond issue that has caused losses amounting to billions of rupees to the country,” Muzammil said.

The 30-year Treasury bond issue declared on 27 February 2015 by the Central Bank has allegedly resulted in losses of billions of rupees to the country.

The committee of eminent lawyers, appointed by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, to probe the alleged irregularities in the bond issue has cleared the Central Bank Governor of any wrongdoing.
