The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) has organised a protest march in Colombo on Wednesday (14) to protest against the government’s “failed” budget.
The protest is also expected to be a show of the JVP’s strength following the recent crisis in the party that led to a massive split.
The protest march is to commence from Campbell Park in Borella at 3p.m. and proceed towards the Lipton Circus.
JVP Propaganda Secretary and parliamentarian Vijitha Herath said the party has already made arrangements to bring thousands of members from the party’s farmers, labour, women, youth, student, and fisheries movements.
He said the protest march would be against the government’s failure to provide relief to the masses and its undemocratic rule.
Herath notes that the party has already held a series of protests in several key towns in the country and the protest march is also part of the campaign. (Colombo page)
