The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) charged yesterday that the government had failed to address the needs of the people and that elections to several local government bodies were being held at a time when the country was facing several crises.
JVP Propaganda Secretary and parliamentarian Vijitha Herath told a press conference that the government continues to find excuses for its inability to provide relief to the people.
He said that the government first blamed the war and later asked for power to address the issues faced by the people.
He observed that the country was facing crises in several important sectors including petroleum, power and energy, health and even sports.
Hearth called on the people to be mindful of all these issues during the local government elections that are to be held for several bodies this month.
