A People’s Liberation Front (JVP) government will end the narcotics menace in Sri Lanka within 24 hours, assured PLF’s Matara District Leader Sunil Handunnetti addressing the members of the media union ‘Journalists in Matara’ on Friday (17).

“We can do it even now if the Government and the Police are willing to cooperate with us and apprehend those connected to the narcotics trade, including the king pins. We have told those concerned how they can identify the culprits, but no action is being taken. There are many corrupt politicians and government servants who get massive payoffs from narcotic kingpins and dealers. Our party can put an end to all this within 24 hours,” he reiterated.

“There is and has been rampant misuse of State property for election work. The previous Government used hundreds of CTB buses to transport their supporters from meeting to meeting. The good governance Government has asked all politicians using official vehicles for the election campaign to make a payment of Rs. 100,000 per vehicle. We condemn this decision because it is the people of Sri Lanka who pay for all these at the end! State property should not be used for election propaganda work,” he added

“It is the PLF that will decide on who will form the next government of Sri Lanka,” he concluded.
