JVP submits new list of members to Election Commissioner

Sources close to the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) say that the General Secretary of the JVP Tilvin Silva has submitted a new list of office bearers and members to the Election Commissioner. The new list is to replace the list provided by the JVP in last February after a party convention.

Party sources say that the approval of the JVP central committee has also been taken legally to prepare the list. However, the dissident group of the JVP claims that they have the majority of the central committee and the membership and they demand a party convention to be held. It is not yet known whether the Election Commissioner has accepted the new list of members.
