The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) is to hold a massive rally in Colombo Fort on Monday (24th) against the government’s failure to fulfill the promises made to the people in the last budget.
JVP General Secretary Tilvin Silva told a press conference that the government was preparing to present a new budget to the people when it had not honored the pledges made in the previous budget.
The press conference today was the first to be held since the internal split in the party.
Silva expressed confidence in receiving the support of about 10,000 to 15,000 persons at the rally on Monday.
All party leaders are expected to participate at Monday’s rally.
Speaking of the party crisis, the JVP General Secretary said there was no hurry to take action against the dissidents and to convene a special party convention.
Silva said the Central Committee reserved the right to decide on holding a special convention if such a need arose. (Colombo Page)
