Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) says it would continue to battle against the government and would give leadership to the people’s struggle.
JVP General Secretary Tilvin Silva addressing a massive crowd in Fort said the government has so far failed to address the needs of the people and would never resolve the issues faced by the masses.
He observed that the government has wronged the people in the country.
“The government would never address your needs. Promises made of increasing salaries in the past by the President have not been honored. The private sector has been completely ignored,” he charged.
The JVP General Secretary also called for former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka’s release along with all political prisoners, especially the Tamil speaking youth in the country.
According to Silva, the JVP would give leadership to the people’s struggle in order to get the government to accede to their needs like the people did in Egypt.
