The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) is to commence a protest march on the 27th of this month from the Dondra Point in the South to Point Pedro in the North.
The march, called the "Jana Pelagesma" would be held to protest against the "anti-people government".
JVP General Secretary Tilvin Silva said the current administration has suppressed the people in many ways and has not provided any relief to them.
He observed that the government was now trying to deviate from the issues faced by the country by prematurely holding provincial council elections on a staggered basis.
Silva explained that the new program of the party would be used to create awareness about the current situation in the country.
During the march from the South to the North, the party has made arrangements to hold leaflet distribution campaigns and meetings in main towns in the districts where the protest march would pass.
The protest march is expected to end at Point Pedro on August 1st.
