The exposition of the Kapilavastu relics has been extended from 5 September to 11 September.
The sacred Kapilavastu Buddhist relics which travelled to Sri Lanka from India after more than 30 years, was received by President Mahinda Rajapaksa on 19 August at the Bandaranaike airport.
Exposition of the Sacred Buddha Relics was to be held at five locations from 19 August to 5 September but now has been extended to 11 September.
Sacred relics were on public display at Naranvita Sri Sambuddha Jayanthi Temple yesterday and will travel to Sri Sumangala Pirivena in Wariyapola today.
Meanwhile, President Rajapaksa has requested that the animal sacrifices are not to be made especially during the exposition of the sacred Kapilavastu relic.
The All Ceylon Hindu Congress has also strongly opposed the planned animal sacrifice at Muneswaran scheduled for 1 September.
