Karu meets Polls Chief on ballot papers

UNP MP Karu Jayasuriya met Elections Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya yesterday to discuss the recovery of some ballot papers from a drain in Ratnapura soon after the 2010 presidential elections. He claimed that investigations at the time had found that the ballot papers were authentic and had been used at the 2010 presidential elections. On Deshapriya’s invite, Susil Premajayanth represented the Government while MP Sunil Handunnetti represented the JVP. Deshapriya had assured Jayasuriya that he would take steps to ensure there would be no room for such incidents in the future – Pic Lasantha Kumara
