Karunanidhi celebrates 91st birthday

REUTERS: Regional Party Chief of India’s southern state of Tamil Nadu, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam supremo M. Karunanidhi celebrated his 91st birthday on Tuesday (3) in Chennai city. Cadres of the regional party held a grand bash at his residence, where thousands of supporters gathered to be a part of his birthday celebrations, by decorating it with his posters.

Party officials who greeted the chief on his special occasion were DMK General Secretary K. Anbazhagan, DMK Treasurer and son of Karunanidhi M.K. Stalin, senior leaders Arcat Veerasamy, T.R. Balu, M.R.K. Paneer Selvam, V.P. Duraiswamy and other DMK leaders like A. Raja and Indian Actress Khushboo. DMK General Secretary K. Anbazhagan, along with party cadres honoured the Party Chief with a shawl. “The thalaivar celebrates his 91st birthday today. On behalf of the party cadres, members of Anna Memorial and Periyar Memorial, we have honoured him with a shawl.” Indian actress Khushboo was ecstatic on the occasion and wished a long life for the Party Chief. “You can see the happiness on everyone’s face. So, it is a very exciting moment for us to celebrate thalaivar’s birthday. And we just hope and wish that he lives a very very long life blessing us as always. “It’s always been a refreshment and booster to get a blessing from Thalaivar especially on his 91st birthday. Definitely it is an icing on the cake for us,” said a cheerful Khushboo.
